Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow
#IWD2022, provides a time-honoured, yearly occasion to celebrate the achievements of women in all walks of life, as well as to raise awareness on women’s equality and gender parity. At Trust-IT and Commpla, we believe this 8th of March date marked on our calendar to be part of our daily agenda to promote a gender-equal world for a sustainable future, where difference is both valued and celebrated!
Undoubtedly, the influence of the role played by all women in all spheres of our society from the social, to the economic, to the cultural and political, continues to gain ever wider recognition and visibility since this day’s inception, while there remains a huge challenge for each one of us every day to step up to the challenge to #BreakTheBias and help close the gap of gender equality, whatever our field or role.
Each year, the theme of International Woman’s Day changes to highlight topical challenges faced not only by women but by society as a whole, where women have a unique and invaluable contribution to make. This year’s theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” champions the role of women and girls all over the world, in tackling climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response.
This parallels the priority theme of the United Nation’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) for 2022: “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”, which will underpin the 66th Session of the CSW66, which will address how to obtain informed, practical and action-oriented recommendations on advancing gender equality through holistic and integrated climate change, environment and disaster risk reduction strategies and initiatives that uphold rights, build resilience, and foster lasting green recovery1.
